Artist appreciation and interpretations of our awe-inspiring surroundings, both Show More...natural and man-made. The landscape as a subject for painters has been long standing favorite. For some it is the engaging experience on being surrounded by their muse, for others it is a longing for a distant place while diligently working in a controlled space. Paintings of the space we inhabit and have yet to visit speak volumes to the relationship we have with the greater world, it's humbling while intimate. We are part of something synergistic, a cycle, a constant change. Part of the greatness of capturing a scene is that it is eternally secured, now a moment in time encapsulated and celebrated for others to enjoy beyond that which happened just once. This collection of works give a not only an appreciation for the skill and talents of the artists but an opportunity for the viewers to look through a unique lens at something glorious and yet often taken for granted.

"The Forgotten Americans" exhibit featuring the photography of Enrico Dungca, will run from September 15 - December 15, 2017 at the Pearl S. Buck International Show More...Exhibit Gallery located at 520 Dublin Road, Hilltown, PA. Through his portraits Mr. Dungca highlights the plight of Amerasian children born to U.S. servicemen and Filipino mothers. The children have desperately sought acceptance in their home country and legal recognition by the U.S. government, so far without success.
Mr. Dungca writes, "It is now my advocacy to speak for these children left behind. Though the majority of them are now adults, does that mean they will remain neglected? I have big hopes of using my passion in photography to bring light to the plight of these underserved citizens."

Pearl S. Buck International has provided humanitarian aid to Amerasian children since 1965 and continues that work today through the Child Sponsorship Program. The recording artist apl.de.ap of The Black Eyed Peas was one of many impoverished Amerasian children in the Philippines sponsored through Pearl S. Buck International. Apl.de.ap now provides college scholarships to Filipino children through the Pearl S. Buck Foundation - Philippines.

Admission to the Exhibit Gallery is complimentary. Hours for the exhibit gallery are Monday through Friday 8:30 to 5:00, Saturday 10:30 to 3:00, and Sunday 12:30 to 3:00. The exhibit is made possible by generous funding from Visit Bucks County.

As Star of the Day prepares to kick off the Halloween Season in Quakertown, they are looking to make it a more intimate experience for the audience by including the seating areas an extension of the stage. Starring as Jekyll/Hyde is Brady Love. Mr. Love is fairly new to the Lehigh Valley. He just completed a run with Catasaqua Area Showcase Theatre as the Beast in Disney's Beauty and the Beast this past spring. In the role of Lucy Harris is Southern Lehigh High School graduate Lauren Jardine. These two powerhouse performers will be joined by a dynamic cast made of 18 talented actors from the Lehigh Valley and beyond. The show will be musically directed by Oliver Blatt, Choreographed by Kirsten Almeida, and Stage Managed by Alexis Leon.

Star of the Day Journeys to the Dark Side this fall with Jekyll & Hyde The Musical.
Based on the classic story by Robert Louis Stevenson and featuring Show More...a thrilling score of pop rock hits from multi Grammy and Tony® nominated Frank Wildhorn and double Oscar and Grammy winning Leslie Bricusse, JEKYLL & HYDE has mesmerized audiences the world over. An evocative tale of two men, one a doctor, passionate and romantic, and the other, a terrifying madman, and two women, one beautiful and trusting and the other, beautiful and trusting only herself. Both unaware of his dark secret. Their story unfolds in this gripping musical thriller resplendent with a sumptuous score including the unforgettable, "This is the Moment," "Someone Like You" and "A New Life." It would be a sin to miss it.
As Star of the Day prepares to kick off the Halloween Season in Quakertown, they are looking to make it a more intimate experience for the audience by including the seating areas an extension of the stage. This intimate 185 seat black box thrust is the perfect venue to do just that. The director, Daniel Petrovich, a veteran to the stage in the Lehigh Valley, has kept the cast small in order to offer this intimate, chilling experience to everyone. Lighting and costumes will also help act as extension of the cast to create varying looks throughout the show.
Performances take place at McCoole's Arts & Events Place in Quakertown, PA September 15 - 30, 2017. George Sotter (1879-1953), an artist strongly identified with Bucks County, Pennsylvania, is best known for his magical winter nocturnes, scenes made Show More...even more enchanting by the blanket of snow that is a recurring motif in his work. Equally evocative, however, are his tranquil marines and sunlit landscapes. Sotter was a master at rendering sweeping panoramic vistas of Bucks County's hills, gently rolling under cumulous cloud-filled skies that create dramatic patterns of light and shadow. He was also well known for his work in stained glass. In addition to a significant investigation of Sotter's nocturnal landscapes, Light and Shadow will present the various other types of landscape he produced throughout his career, and will introduce his work as a stained-glass artist, and examine the artistic exchange between the media in which he worked. Chronological and geographic in scope, the exhibition will also provide a regional context for the nocturne theme-the subject with which Sotter is most often recognized-and will include nocturne subjects by many of his Bucks County artistic contemporaries as well as some from further afield.. ...Show Less
